Sterling
silver is a symbol of purity. Sterling Circle Records
strives to match this shining purity in the quality of music
we are producing, by trusting the talent and instincts of the
artists behind that music. We seek purity of sound by listening,
and by giving artists freedom to express themselves spontaneously.
The music comes out of the spirit and collaboration of the session,
with little post-production.
The
Circle is often used as a symbol of continuity. Within
that symbol are aspects of continuous change, but it is change
along a fixed path. That path is determined by our dedication
to bringing unique and creative musical experiences into the
world. Connected by that circle are the friends of Sterling Circle
Records: the artists and creators of music.
We
are Sterling Circle Records, the best in the combined
aspects of our name. We are all artists and musicians, creating
music as resilient and strong as the circle itself.
Founded
by Producer and Engineer Mickey
Houlihan in 2001, Sterling Circle Records is proud to create
music in collaboration with Denver Trumpeter Ron
Miles. Houlihan and Miles have collaborated on several projects
over the last several years, including Miles’ 2000 release Ron
Miles Trio.
Sterling
Circle’s first release was Ron Miles’ highly
acclaimed 2002 Heaven featuring
Bill Frisell. Heaven is an album of duets featuring 7 original
compositions from both Miles and Frisell.
March
25, 2003 Sterling Circle Records will release Laughing
Barrel, for which Ron Miles composed 7 original pieces for
a quartet. The quartet includes Bassist Anthony
Cox, Guitarist Brandon Ross,
and Drummer Rudy Royston.
Located
in Boulder, Colorado, Sterling Circle Records draws
on the inspiration and hospitality of nature to create a fun
and energetic recording environment for musicians.
